استجابة منتجي الطماطم المحمية لظروف السوق المتغيرة في منطقة الرياض بالمملكة العربية السعودية The response of protected tomato producers to market condition changes in Riyadh region in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to decribe and estimate tomato cost function for tomato production in conditioned greenhouses in order to determine economic production levels to analyze the economic of scale and to derive long term supply function in protected tomatoes Thus the response of tomato producers to market condition changes is used however to explain protected agricultural ability of tomatoes selfsufficieny through various strategies Acrosssection random sample of 28 projects of conditioned greenhouses in Riyadh region was drawn A cost function approach has been utilized The results show that the optimum project size to produce tomatoes in conditioned greenhouses is 47 hectare ; the minimum level of production costs at the optimal size is estimated to be 1469 SR ton thus the net return is 1283 thousand Riyals per year for each hectare ; there is increasing returns to scale go along with increasing farm size and hence production level increase up to 720 ton per year ; the price supply elasticity is decreasing from 688 at farm price 1469 SR to 407 at farn1 price 4000 SR ; the total conditioned greenhouses and traditional tomato production in Riyadh region can be obtained from 126 projects with total area of 592 hectare and tomato selfsufficient can be achieved using 480 projects with total area of 2880 hectare

استهدف البحث توصيف وتقدير دالة تكاليف إنتاج الطماطم في البيوت المحمية المكيفة واستخدامها في تحديد المستويات الإنتاجية الاقتصادية، وتحليل العائد للسلعة واشتقاق دالة عرض الطماطم المحمية في المدى الطويل، لتوضيح استجابة المنتجين للظروف السوقية المتغيرة، ومن ثم توضيح إمكانات الزراعة المحمية في سد الاحتياجات الوطنية من الطماطم وفق استراتيجيات مختلفة واعتمد البحث على بيانات قطاعية مستمدة من عينة قوامها 28 مشروعا للبيوت المحمية المكيفة المنتجة للطماطم في منطقة الرياض

ولقد اتضح أن الحجم الأمثل لمشروعات إنتاج الطماطم المحمية هو 47 هكتارا إذ تصل التكلفة الإنتاجية عند هذا الحجم إلى حدها الأدنى البالغ 1469 ريالا للطن، ويتحقق من الهكتار عائد صافي قدره 1283 ألف ريال سنويا كما تبين زيادة نسبة العائد للسعة مع زيادة حجم المزرعة، ومن ثم مستوى الناتج حتى مستوى إنتاجي إجمالي قدره 720 طنا سنويا، كما تبين انخفاض مرونة عرض الطماطم المحمية من 0688 عند مستوى سعر مزرعي قدره 1469 ريالا إلى 0407 عند سعر مزرعي قدره 4000 ريال، واتضح أنه يمكن تحقيق جملة ما تنتجه البيوت المحمية المكيفة بوضعها الراهن، وما تنتجه الزراعة التقليدية من الطماطم في منطقة الرياض من خلال 126 مشروعا إنتاجيا محميا مساحتها الإجمالية 592 هكتار، كما يمكن تحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي من الطماطم من خلال 480 مشروعا إنتاجيا مساحتها الإجمالية قدرها 2880 هكتارا
