Abstract

males for religious purpose The majority are done in the neonatal period For the first time in Saudi literature we established our hospital a criteria for adequate circumcision and recommended technique to achieve these criteria which proved to be effective in performing satisfactory circumcision We modified the technique to a chieve furthereasein adjusting preputal level of cut without fear in injuring the glans penis which we found to be of concern to the junior practitioner particularly in babies in the lower range of normal penile length This modification was applied to the circumcision of I 188 male infants circumcised over a period of four years aiming at a safe adequate and easily applicable procedure even for junior staff to do with basic available instruments

إن ختان الذكور من العمليات الاعتيادية التي تجرى في مجتمعنا وذلك لأسباب دينية وغالبا ما يتم ذلك في المهد وفي مستشفى جامعة الملك عبد العزيز بجدة تم وضع أسس ومعايير للختان المقبول ووضعت الخطوات اللازمة اتباعها للحصول على هذه المعايير وتم نشرها لأول مرة على مستوى المدونات الطبية السعودية في هذه المجلة في عام 1994 م في هذا البحث تم إجراء تعديل طفيف على هذا الخطوات وذلك بهدف تبسيط العملية وإزالة التخوف من قطع الحشفة والتي كثيرا ما تعيق المبتدئين تم تطبيق هذا التعديل عند ختان 188 طفل على مدى أربع سنوات وكانت النتيجة هي الوصول إلى طريقة سليمة وسهلة ومأمونة ترضى الأسس والمعايير السابق وضعها وخاصة عندما تجرى من قبل المبتدئين وبالأدوات المتوفرة في أي عيادة جراحية
