دوافع التحاق الطلاب بجامعة الملك سعود وكلية العمارة والتخطيط على ضوء السمات الأكاديمية والاجتماعية Students motives to join king Saud university and college of architecture and planning in the light of students academic and social characteristics

Abstract

تتكون العملية التعليمية في أي مؤسسة تعليمية من الطالب والأستاذ والمنهج والبيئة التعليمية، ويركز البحث التالي على عنصر الطالب كأحد أهم عناصر العملية التعليمية في محاولة لفهم السمات الاجتماعية والأكاديمية لطلاب حقبة زمنية مضت في مسيرة التعليم المعماري بجامعة الملك سعود، وهم طلاب كلية العمارة والتخطيطي بجامعة الملك سعود الذين التحقوا بها في الفترة 14151420 هـ، وتأثير تلك السمات على دوافع اختيار الجامعة والكلية أسفرت نتائج البحث عن وجود تقارب في بعض السمات الأكاديمية والاجتماعية وكذلك تبيان كبير في ذات السمات لأفراد المجتمع الطلابي، فأغلب طلاب تلك الفترة الزمنية هم من خريجي مدارس التعليم الحكومي والأقلية من خريجي مدارس التعليم الأهلي، وأن غالبية الطلاب هم من حصلوا على معدلات تراوحت بين 8089 % في الثانوية العامة، و10 % من الطلاب فقط جاوزت معدلاتهم في الثانوية العامة 90 % يقابلهم 7 % من الطلاب تراوحت معدلاتهم بين 7079 % أظهرت الدراسة أيضا قدرا كبيرا جدا من التباين في السمات الاجتماعية للطلاب، نصفهم تقريبا قادم من مدن وأرياف خارج مدينة الرياض والنصف الآخر من سكان مدينة الرياض، كما أن هناك تباينا كبيرا في عمل وتعليم آباء وأمهات الطلاب كشفت الدراسة عن أن أقوى الدوافع للالتحاق بجامعة الملك سعود مرتبط بسمعتها ومكانتها ووقوعها في مدينة الرياض، يأتي بعد ذلك ما له علاقة بالطالب من حيث توفر الكلية التي يرغبها أما دوافع الالتحاق بكلية العمارة والتخطيط فإن غالبية الطلاب (61 %) التحقت بالكلية لوجوج رغبة شخصية وأن 11 % التحقت بالكلية بسبب عدم القدرة الجامعة على توفير مقاعد لهم في التخصصات المرغوبة ؛ وبالتالي تم التوجيه لكلية العمارة والتخطيط كرغبة بديلة وقد خلصت الدراسة إلى عدد من النتائج والتوصيات تصب في تحديث ضوابط القبول في الكلية

Educational process in any educational institution consists of several basic elements such as ; the student the teacher the curriculum and the learning environment This study investigates the academic and social characteristics of Saudi students at the College of Architecture and planning King Saud University enrolled during the period 14151420 H (19952000) and the impact of those characteristics on their intents of enrolling in King Saud University and joining the College of Architecture and Planning The study revealed both similarities and wider variations within those characteristics The majority of students of the sample study were graduates of public schools and a minority of private schools Most students obtained 8089 % in general secondary school certificate Only 10 % obtained percentages exceeding 90 % and 7 % of students obtained percentages ranging 7079 % As for social characteristics the study showed big variation among Saudi students with almost half of them coming from towns and rural outside Riyadh city; the other ha lf were residents of Riyadh city The study showed also considerable variations in the employment and educational and employment background of students' parents The study revealed that the strongest motivations for joining King Saud University were the reputation it enjoys and the fact that the university is located in the city of Riyadh nearby student's families and their relatives It is the destination of choice for students looking for launching Future and better careers Next to this was the availability of the desired college the university As for enrolling in the College of Architecture and Planning 61 % of students ie the majority expressed a personal desire 11 % attended the college against their first wish due to university inability to provide seats in the desired disciplines and thus were directed by the university to enroll in the College of Architecture and Planning as an alternate desire The study concluded with recommendations to update college admission rules
