ينشر في هذا البحث لأول مرة نسبة سرعة هرمون الكورتيكوستيرون من غدة قشر الكظر لدى الضب والتي وجدت تساوي 45 ± 81 نانوجرام في الكيلوجرام من الوزن في الدقيقة وقد وجد أن حقن مادة الهستامين يؤدي إلى زيادة إفراز هذا الهرمون في الضب الطبيعي والضب الذي استؤصلت غدته النخامية ويعتقد أن هناك علاقة مباشرة بين الهستامين وإفراز قشر الكظر لإعداد الضب لمواجهة أية مضايقات في المعيشة The secretion rate of corticosterone the major hormone of the adrenal cortex of the "dabb" (the spiny tailed lizard uromastix aegypia) was found to be 5418 ng kg min in intact controls This is published for the first time in the literature Exogenously administered histamine into the systemic circulation of the hypophsectomized "dabb" resulted in a small (but significant) increase in the rate of secretion of corticosterone compared to the markedly elevated rate in intact normal controls This finding is postulated to be due to a direct effect of histamine on the adrenal cortex as the plasma ionic concentrations were unaltered
